Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science [GEMS]

The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC is proud to present the Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) Program, in partnership with US Army Educational Outreach Program and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). This is our 3rd Year in Partnership and we look for this year to be even greater than last year! The one-week internship from 8:25 am to 4:00 pm is for beginners (grades 7th & 8th), intermediate (grades 9th & 10th) and advanced (grades 11th & 12th) with an interest in the sciences.

We have some reserved positions for students ranging from the 6th-12th grade. Rolling Admission begins today and all applications must be submitted by NO LATER THAN May 15th. Remember, the sooner you apply the sooner you can be considered.

Once we have the above information we will place your child on our roster, but the online application must be submitted to be fully enrolled into the program and receive the $100 stipend.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Students with general interest and curiosity for STEM. Students that want to increase their knowledge of STEM activities. Parents/Teachers who want their children/students to be exposed to STEM opportunities.

The GEMS ADVANTAGE

This program is facilitated by a dedicated staff of scientists and undergraduate instructors. This laboratory based program takes STEM education out of the traditional classroom and allows students to learn through practical lab investigations.
