Program Description Building on Columbia University’s more than 30 year history of operating pre-college programs, the Columbia Girls in STEM Initiative is part of a larger effort by Columbia University to increase the amount of programming it does for middle and high school age students. Columbia is expanding its pre-college offerings and part of the expansion is creating more and broader bridges between higher education and secondary schooling.
The Columbia Girls in STEM Initiative prepares motivated high school girls from typically underrepresented populations for STEM studies in college in collaboration with industry leaders throughout the country. The program is a one week commuter based program in New York, Miami, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
