Stratasys Extreme Redesign Competition Regional Semi-Finalists Announced

Three teams from Thomas Johnson were named Regional Semi-Finalists in the Stratasys Extreme Redesign Competition, a worldwide 3D design contest. Students were asked to innovate and model technologies to "make a difference." Thomas Johnson was the only Maryland school recognized. Students will receive 3D printed models of their innovations from Stratasys. Recognized projects were as follows:
MotorX - Monette M. and Kayvon R. - "MotorX is an innovated motor for a compost machine. It will spin the compost so that it will speed up the process of turning regular organic materials to natural fertilizer."

Double-Sided USB - Shanza A. and Eric S. - "For the greater good of accessibility, we innovated the design of a regular USB to make the port double-sided."

Universal Crank Charger - Leandro G. and Jan M. - "Our innovation uses photovoltaic cells to convert the sun's energy to electricity."
